The project
To repair and renovate the church building to bring it into good condition and meet current standards, which would then enable us to serve the needs of the community now and in the future.
Update April 2020
Since the EBA gathering in September last year we have been busy on the next phase of work to the chapel building and were hoping to be back into the building for the Easter Services.
Obviously due to the Covid-19 crisis this didn’t happen and at the moment all work in the building has come to a halt although much of the work by the builders had been completed.
We have now removed our organ to give more space so that the main body of the chapel will be very community friendly and a much more usable space for folk who would want to use our facility. Our new toilets just need a bit more paint on the boxing in and new cupboard housing the hot water boiler in the disabled toilet. We have installed new heating and lighting which initially we weren’t expecting to do but it certainly is an improvement. We know that the inside of the chapel will not yet be as we would like it until we do the work on the front wall, which is quite a big job and will entail all the plaster being removed from the inside and then re-plastered once the wall has been tied together from both sides. We have a quote for this but at this moment in time do not have the funds to do the work. However we are continuing to source and apply for grants to enable this work to be done. We are thankful to the other churches that have sent donations to us and we are still open to more if any others feel led by God to support us. There isn’t really much more to say at this moment in time so I am just including a few photographs to show where we are up to.
Thanks for your interest and God bless. Rev Sue
