AGM Summary 2024 Tuesday 24 September members of EBA churches gathered together for the EBA discussion and information afternoon and AGM. The first part of the afternoon Claire Blatchford, EBA Regional Minister talked about Project Violet focusing on the recommendations for churches and reminded people that they have the opportunity to commit to recommendations on behalf of their church, even if they couldn’t respond by the deadline the church can still commit to the recommendations. Discussion were had in groups sharing thoughts on the project violet findings and how we can make a difference in the future. Claire then shared the outcome of the EBA Trustees discussion around the recommendations for change for associations. EBA Council Summary 23 September 2024 EBA Trustees – with two apologies – met for the EBA Council meeting on 23 September 2024. Andrew Wade (EBA Moderator) welcomed everyone. In opening the meeting Andrew read from Revelation 3 reflecting what it means to be hot in our relationship with God and what that looks like in our ministry with EBA and then he opened in prayer. Council was brought up to date with 3 outstanding matters from previous meetings, which included an update on the group reflecting on regional minister appointment processes across the Union, how the regional team have created opportunities for churches and ministers to engage with the recommendations from the Project Violet research and the response from EBA to the recommendations for associations and a recent meeting of the EBA Justice Hub. Just before the summer we advertised for three roles, CYF Networker, EcoChurch enabler and Pioneer Networker. We have good news that we have been able to appoint all three roles. The new team members introduced below. All new roles begin on 1 October 2024 CYF Networker – Vicky Baker – vicky.baker@easternbaptist.org.uk Vicky trained at Bristol Baptist College and has been in church-based children and families ministry for over ten years. Until recently she served as Pastor for Children & Families at Shoeburyness & Thorpe Bay Baptist Church and her work in the local community there involved serving local Primary and Secondary schools in taking assemblies, providing school chaplaincy, and serving as a Governor responsible for Safeguarding. Over the past two years Vicky has worked closely with the youth team at her church, and over the past year has supported the church through their pastoral vacancy. Beyond the local church Vicky …
