Suffolk Week is the first of our planned weeks celebrating the ministry of our churches across our four counties. During the week we’ll be gathering to pray, walking together, visiting churches, and all of the RM team will be preaching in Suffolk churches on Sunday 29th September. EBA Council Summary 8 July 2024 EBA Trustees – with two apologies – met for the EBA Council meeting on 6 April 2024. Andrew Wade (EBA Moderator) welcomed everyone. In opening the meeting Andrew read from Luke 14 reflecting on the need for us all to make time to meet with God, and not to let our busyness get in the way. and then he opened in prayer. Council was brought up to date with 3 outstanding matters from previous meetings, which included an update on a legal situation with a member church, the progress being made on the group reflecting on regional minister appointment processes across the Union, and how the regional team have created opportunities for churches and ministers to engage with the recommendations from the Project Violet research. Project Violet released its findings on 2 May 2024 along with recommendations to commit to change at all levels of our Baptist movement, Local church, Associations, Colleges and Union. The findings issue a call to respond and request that everyone engages with the research by ensuring that the parts of Baptist life you belong to discuss the findings and submit a response template by 30 September 2024. All the commitments to action will be presented to Baptist Council on 23 October 2024. EBA Council Summary 6th April EBA Trustees – with one apology — met together along with Claire Blatchford, Gale Richards and Gillian Jones for the EBA Council meeting on 6 April 2024. Andrew welcomed everyone and welcomed Gillian, the newly appointed Safeguarding Lead to the meeting. On opening the meeting Andrew read from Acts 2 reminding us that God’s love is open to all and then he opened in prayer. Council was brought up to date with 4 outstanding matters from previous meetings, which included an update on where the Association is regarding its own Ethos Statement following the guidelines released by Baptist Union and a report from the latest BMS Council of Reference on which the EBA has a representative.
