Each week the Eastern Baptist Association will produce a Weekly Prayer Focus for a different member church across the region. We hope you will be able to use the article and accompanying PowerPoint and PDF to encourage you and your churches in prayers for others in the association.
Homelands Free Church was planted from Frinton Free Church 49 years ago and lies between Walton-on-the-Naze and Frinton-on-Sea. It lies near older housing estates that are still being developed, and there is much potential for outreach. As other churches are experiencing, over the last nine months or so, Homelands has seen a real resurgence of interest of people coming to or desiring to renew their faith, and this includes both younger and older people. Sarah, their Pastor, baptised three people last month, with one of those being a 91-year-old lady and four more baptisms lie ahead. They also have a growing fringe of people who are attached to the church but not yet in membership. As Homelands currently consists of mainly older people, this influx…
Hutton and Shenfield Union Church is a Local Ecumenical Partnership between Baptists and the United Reformed Church. This has worked very well. The village’s Church of England Primary School has 210 children, and it has been our privilege to go into the school to run “Open the Book” once a week since 2006. The three churches also work together to operate “Lighthouse”, which is…
Bethel Baptist Church is a warm, welcoming community in Cambridgeshire. The church is a place where people from the local villages of Swavesey and Fen Dayton come to feel safe and wanted. The church is an active place, but all the activities start with a member of the church having a passion for seeing something new, and the whole fellowship deciding this is a good thing and joining them wholeheartedly. In this way, everything grows out of the church being themselves and loving Jesus. In this way, lots of people with no church background have found a home and transformed: belonging, believing and behaving. This has led to a recent baptism, with more in September, Sunday services, house groups, Club Vintage, Little Lights, Hub Youth…
