Weekly Prayer Focus

Each week the Eastern Baptist Association will produce a Weekly Prayer Focus for a different member church across the region. We hope you will be able to use the article and accompanying PowerPoint and PDF to encourage you and your churches in prayers for others in the association.

Willingham Baptist Church is an outgoing and evangelistically minded Church set in a rural village, lying twelve miles north-west of Cambridge. The Church was founded in 1875 as the Baptist Tabernacle, and while it is now a smaller congregation, it remains a strong part of the local community. The Church has seen a split, which occurred four years ago, before their current Minister Kwaku Efah, was called to the Church. In his ministry, Kwaku has a strong evangelistic focus, and he has led the way in growing the Church. This is now resulting in new growth and provides encouragement and a new drive for the fellowship. They have seen new families attending with ten children, and the re-establishment of a thriving Sunday School. Different activities…

Laindon Baptist Church was established around 120 years ago as a village church, but now finds itself situated on the outskirts of the “new town” of Basildon in a large residential area in the south of Essex. The church, which is currently in vacancy, is being led by a committed team of volunteers, including Rene Baker, their Church Secretary. There are 23 members, with around 20 in attendance weekly, including three or four children. Services are led by a willing team of church members, with occasional visiting preachers. On the first Sunday of the month, the fellowship enjoys a Bring-and-share lunch. A committed Pastoral Team keeps the fellowship connected, and the church makes good use of a Prayer Chain to encourage members to support one…

Stradbroke Baptist Church has a local friendly congregation in an expanding village in Mid-Suffolk with a population close to 1750.  The village has a primary and high school, bakery, library, post office, surgery and local shop along with a village hall and sports field.  Due to its rural location most folk tend to work in local industries that support or relate to agriculture.  Many of the elderly folk have spent a near lifetime in the village and are surrounded by three generations of family folk – most of the elderly folk recall Sunday School days at the chapel. Bruce Francis has been the minister since April 2018 and over the past seven years has witnessed the congregation steadily grow from a faithful few to a…

Mill Road Baptist Church is located in a busy and diverse area of Cambridge, where there is continual change within the multicultural community. Students and young families often come and go, which brings both challenges and opportunities for the church, which has been a faithful presence in the area for many years. The church is currently in a pastoral vacancy and is led by its Deacons, Brother Andrew Adekunle and Taiwo Oladokun. They are thankful for the teaching and ministry of regular visiting speakers and ministers. They have a morning service every Sunday and the church meets for Bible study once a fortnight. The mostly elderly congregation is faithful and prayerful, and several organisations use the church and hall during the week. The church is…
