The “God Saw That It Was Good” films takes people deeper in the wonder and mystery of the world. Weaving stunning visual imagery with a narrative entwining science and faith; enabling viewers to encounter the wonder, playfulness, and connections in creation that science reveals, and through which, perhaps, God may be encountered. Council Summary January 2024 Andrew opened the meeting by reading from 1 Peter chapter 4 reminding us to love each other and pray for one another, letting our actions towards each other speak loudest, then opened in prayer. Andrew also offered thanks for the work Fiona has done and the time served as Moderator. Trustees were informed that both flowers and an afternoon tea voucher had been sent to Fiona as a thank you for serving in the moderator role. Sandra Crawford had completed her term as a co-opted trustee, Sandra confirmed that she would be willing to stand for another two years. (Sandra left the room.) The remaining members considered the co-option and in line with our governing document trustees agreed to the co-option for a further 2-year term until January 2026. Council Summary November 2023 Fiona welcomed David to his first meeting as Team Leader and due to his position as trustee. In total there were 11 trustees present, 2 apologies and both Claire and Gale as RM’s were present by invitation. Fiona read from Proverbs 3:5-6 and referred to verses in Isaiah where God makes a new way, and linked this to where the EBA is currently finding itself following a change in personnel. EBA Secretary led some Trustee Training reminding them of their responsibilities according to the Charities Act and duties as Directors with the Companies Act. The training finished with some questions that trustees should ask themselves when facing making decisions in their role as Trustees. This led to an exercise with a focus on governance in which council members were asked to discuss the role of the council and the role description of a Trustee. Further consideration …
Central and Eastern Baptist Associations Joint Safeguarding Lead The Central and Eastern Baptist Association Safeguarding Lead has moved into retirement, and we are looking to replace them. We are therefore seeking a person with experience in safeguarding to fulfil this part-time post commencing March 2024. The post is for 24 hours per week, 12 for each Association, which includes four hours’ protected time for paperwork, and will mainly involve working from home. An applicant who already has, or applies for, another part-time safeguarding lead role would not be prevented from applying for this part-time post in addition, subject to a readiness to be able to travel to both regions from time to time for meetings.
