The Whitehouse estate lies on the northwest edge of the town of Ipswich. Whitehouse Baptist Church has been there for the past sixty-six years and has forty members. The current minister, Revd Robert Foster, is ably supported by a leadership team of six people including four deacons and the church family and fellowship.
The mission statement for the church is “Being Beacons for Jesus and making him Known”. This is being achieved through a variety of outreach projects, some by the Fellowship, others in partnership with community groups to help build relationships with their neighbours. These include Boy’s Brigade, Ignite children’s club and there is an Open the Book team who go into the local primary school and host the pre-school at the church to present Bible stories.
The weekly coffee morning, including a monthly community lunch, has proved very popular. The lunch also goes “on tour” in two local sheltered housing schemes. The fellowship gives thanks that some of the mid-week folks are now joining them regularly on Sunday mornings.
They also hire the premises to a stay’n’play group which has met a great need and support the Ipswich Family and Baby Bank. The Christmas gift and toy and Easter Egg appeals for them was a great success. They give thanks to God for all that He is doing here at Whitehouse.
