Theydon Bois is tucked inside the junction of the M11 and M25 in the Epping Forest district of Essex. The village’s entry in Wikipedia states that ‘A notable characteristic of the village is its almost complete absence of street lighting’ – so it’s probably just as well that the Baptist church there shines the light of Jesus into the community in such a vibrant way.
With minister Peter Pilavachi supported by a strong pastoral group, there are several ministries that reach out and into the area, perhaps most notably the midweek children’s groups which are flourishing so strongly.
Just before Easter a holiday club drew in around 80 children daily, and that major effort by the church will be repeated in the summer.
An Alpha course began in the last week of April. With other events taking place it’s probably no surprise that the church is seeking God’s guidance in preparation for seeking a new Associate Minister.
At a recent service, seven people were baptised.
