Maidstone Road Baptist Church is in the district of Walton, on the outskirts of Felixstowe, Suffolk. Their minister-in-training, Shonaidh Marsh joined the church in September, and is excited about the opportunities available for the church as it seeks to serve a community that has grown to 11,500 people in recent years, with a planned 2000 more homes on the horizon. An important aspect of the church’s life is the Parish Nursing team, who have their offices in the church building, using the facilities for a chair-based exercise class, and in recent weeks a weekly drop-in “Friday@2” has started, providing a chance for locals to meet up and support one another.
The fellowship of around 35 members is firmly focused on the future of the church and are actively seeking creative ways to draw in the new residents of Walton so that the Lord’s work can continue. They are fully aware that this involves making disciples, and they are committed to planting a flag in the heart of the new community in which they are placed. Although not an obvious church building, it is located on the routes to two schools, which the fellowship views as a prime opportunity to spread the Good News.
Please pray for this small fellowship as it seeks to use its firm foundations, along with an openness to try all possibilities, to reach out to its community, bringing the good news of Jesus for future generations.
