Weekly Prayer Focus: King Street Baptist Church, Thetford

Week 40

King Street Baptist Church was established in 1861 and is located in the pedestrianized area at the heart of this busy Norfolk town.

The church meets each Sunday morning for worship with about 30 attending. Recently there have been more new people coming along including more young adults.

Once a month there is also a worship night exploring different ways of being together in God’s presence with new music, prayer, silent worship, Bible reading and participation in craft activities including painting.

The previous minister left last November and the church is currently in pastoral vacancy. The small leadership team have been working with the church members to agree the church profile and this has recently been completed and gone onto the Pastoral Vacancy List on the BU website.  The church is praying for interest in it as God identifies the right person to be called to Thetford.

During the week there is a Kidz’n’Coffee morning on Tuesdays which is for under 5’s and their parents.  It is very popular and seeing more people attending. It now has a Kidz’n’clothes feature to provide free pre-used clothes for babies and toddlers.

On Thursdays there is the Sanctuary Wellbeing Space run in partnership with Kintsugi Hope. This provides help for those with mental health issues and is always very busy.

There is also a Homegroup Bible Study on Thursday evenings.

Please pray:

  • For the current time of ministerial vacancy and that a new minister will be led to the church soon.
  • For resources to enable the church to continue working out Gods will and the vision he has given the church.
  • That the church will have a real impact in the town and there will be revival in Thetford.
