Histon Baptist, a thriving, evangelical church, is located in the growing semi-rural villages of Histon and Impington, north of Cambridge. The Minister, Chris Farmer, with his wife and family, has been there for 4 years and is supported in leadership by 3 Elders, 7 Deacons and others.
In addition to Sunday Worship Services, the Church has regular Sunday and mid-week children and youth groups (including a thriving baby and toddler group and a youth group), music groups and life groups. They have seen growth in attendance from people of a variety of backgrounds and nationalities and welcomed people with specific physical and learning needs.
In 2025, they have been greatly encouraged by a very successful Alpha course. 20 people from a wide age range attended, some had been attending Church, others were new to Christianity. All 20 made a commitment to Jesus, and the Church is now supporting and encouraging people into the life of the Church and preparing to run a post-alpha discipleship programme.
In September, they will have a part-time Children’s worker, a new initiative, with the aim of building up the work with children and families in the Church and local community. This is an answer to prayer and an important investment.
