Great Sampford Baptist Church is a small, committed church, who know that God has a place for them in their small village of about 350 houses.
Although they have an older congregation, the church has just started a babies and toddlers group to address a need in the village. This goes alongside monthly coffee mornings and Seedlings, similar to Messy Church, which is run alongside the local Anglican Church. You will also find the church in the local primary school, where they run assemblies every fortnight and a Puppet Club on a Wednesday lunchtime, with a faith-themed puppet play performed every term. Ann Wolstenholme, their minister, is also a school governor and understands how much the church’s input is valued at the school.
Ann has been Great Sampford’s part-time minister for the last year, however, she has been a member of the church for the last 33 years. The church helped her to identify her calling to nurture the church as minister. She hopes that the church will continue to engage with those who attended Alpha last year. The Alpha course helped the church to come together and discuss their faith more openly, and learn to share Jesus with others.
