Each week the Eastern Baptist Association will produce a Weekly Prayer Focus for a different member church across the region. We hope you will be able to use the article and accompanying PowerPoint and PDF to encourage you and your churches in prayers for others in the association.

Eastwood Baptist Church is a lovely community in a small village on the edge of Southend-on-Sea. This year, they have the theme of wonder; this is looking at the wonder of God, the wonder of the church, the wonder of prayer and the wonder of us. They are excited about the 5 baptisms that they have had this year, but also about the new worship band after years of recorded music, and the young people that are stepping up in their gifts. They have a great community focus with 2 toddler groups, a foodbank supporting the community, a council-recognised dementia friendly café, children and youth groups for primary and older children, and they work in 3 primary schools for assemblies and lessons. However, they are…

Park Baptist is a Bi-lingual, multi-cultural Church located in the centre of the Coastal town of Great Yarmouth. Their vision is to be a praying community which wholeheartedly loves God, loves each other and Great Yarmouth and welcomes people from all walks of life. They have 2 weekly services: Sunday morning, for their English-speaking fellowship (about 50 people), and Saturday, for their Portuguese-speaking fellowship (50-60 people). Other regular activities are a Friendship group, Game night, Art Group and Men’s and Women’s meetings. Their current Minister, Jorge Damasceno, helped to plant the Portuguese fellowship some years ago and returned to Park Baptist to lead the work of the Church. They are seeking a new Minister for the…

Hardwick Evangelical Church is in rural Cambridgeshire and has a congregation from the village and surrounding area. The church is an informal, relaxed church that focuses on its immediate area. As a church for the village, it attracts people from many different denominations. Although they have just 20 members, birthdays range from families with young children, to young people, to a recent 90th! The church itself is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The church is both inward and outward looking, caring for their congregation whilst getting involved in village life. They meet in the local school and rent a small, relaxed space that, as well as being an office, is also a community hub, Alpha location, hosts craft and other groups. Lots of the…
