Weekly Prayer Focus

Each week the Eastern Baptist Association will produce a Weekly Prayer Focus for a different member church across the region. We hope you will be able to use the article and accompanying PowerPoint and PDF to encourage you and your churches in prayers for others in the association.

Gorleston Baptist Church is a down-to-earth, authentic, prayerful Baptist Church that celebrates whole-life discipleship, encourages faith journeys and getting to know Jesus better. They are a growing church family located on the Norfolk coast, south of Great Yarmouth; a seaside town with considerable needs. Mike Flynn, their minister for 6 years, speaks of three areas of church life. Firstly, their important, worship-filled Sunday services with an amazing worship band. Secondly, fellowship with one another, encouraged by Life Groups and supported by well-attended monthly prayer meetings. Thirdly, The Well, their drop-in centre, which is a significant part of their community outreach. Here, you will find breakfasts and the food pantry for people in need, alongside a laundry and showers, which are well used by the local…

Fulmerston is a small church located on a London overspill housing estate in Thetford, Norfolk. It has built strong links to the community over many years and seeks to be a warm, welcoming and real presence. The Church is active and busy. As well as Sunday morning services and children’s group, it has a variety of weekly and fortnightly activities, including a “craft buddies” group, “chat & chill” coffee morning, a “meeting place” social group for older people. A  “house group” meets fortnightly for fellowship, to learn from the Bible and pray together. The Church is in good spirits. In the…

Cambridgeshire is home to a good number of retired ministers, many of whom make a significant contribution to the life of their own churches, to other churches through preaching and moderating, and in serving various charities and other church bodies. Ecumenism is a strong feature of church life across Cambridgeshire. …

Fakenham Community Baptist Church, in Norfolk, is living testimony that a church is not a building, or even its activities, but people together on a mission to know Jesus and make Him known.  Their 30 or so mainly older members, with a few younger people, currently meet in Fakenham Community Centre in the middle of the town.  They hold Little Fishes in the community centre on a Tuesday, a weekly Lifegroup and coffee meetings.  At the town’s Thursday Market, they run a market stall where they enjoy good relationships with the other stall holders and where people also come for prayer; while at their local Weatherspoons, they host weekly ‘sit and chat’ drop-in sessions.  They hold fast days and monthly corporate prayer meetings and are…
