The new school year starts during the week beginning Sunday 3rd September. We have put together some simple ideas you can use to mark this in your churches. Children and young people will return to, or even head into new pre schools, schools and colleges with a variety and mix of emotions that range from terrified to excited. Teachers and other school staff will be beginning the new year at a time when many of them feel under pressure and under resourced. This is a time when the church should be praying, engaging and encouraging. Gale Richards as an EBA regional minister was invited to be the ‘Lifeline’ speaker leading daily bible studies from Monday, 31 July 2023, to Friday, 4 August 2023, as part of Frinton Mission (frintonmission.net). She spoke on the theme of ‘Sharing the peace’ an exploration of John’s Gospel from a missional perspective. We shared the news last week that Graeme will be moving on from his role as a Regional Minister in the EBA. We are grateful for all that he has brought to the life of the association and we wish him well for the future. Graeme’s final day working with the EBA will be 10th October and he will take up his new role as the Minister of Bethesda Baptist Church in Trowbridge after this. Please also pray for the Ross family who are moving on 15th August in order for their youngest daughter to begin year 10 and her GCSE’s in September in a new school. From that date, Graeme will be spending part of his time here is the EBA and part time working remotely from Trowbridge. Report from EBA Council July 2023 The meeting was held on zoom with one trustee having sent apologies. The meeting opened with reading Psalm 121 and trustees being reminded that we cannot do things without God’s help and that He does not sleep nor slumber. Followed by prayer. Trustees were informed by Graeme of his call to local ministry, he shared a little bit of his journey to this place and the meeting with his new church. Council then prayed for Graeme and his family as they prepare to move. The Home Mission resilience group met in June and meet again in August. The group consists of 9 people including trustees, people who currently receive a grant and some with an analytical financial background. The group hopes to report back to council later this year.
