Where is your focus?

I recently came across this picture while creating some publicity.  Something about it struck me and the question ‘where is your focus?’ came to me.

’A photo of people in a room would usually focus on the people, but here the photographer has chosen to focus on the light. The people are still present and having their discussion but the focus of the observer is on the light. The people are focused on each other and whilst they would notice if the light was turned off, you have to wonder if they are taking its presence forgranted.

Jesus promises that where two or three gather in his name, that he is in the midst. When we meet, is our focus primarily on the light of the world or on one another? In our services it’s more likely to be on Jesus, but how about in our church meetings or when we meet socially or at other times?

Jesus is with us always! He isn’t just with us when we gather. Jesus being in our midst isn’t about a special presence that we can’t otherwise have, it’s a reminder about where our focus should be.

Are we taking the light of the world for granted?

Let’s encourage one another to keep our focus on Jesus.
