What do you see in this painting? (28 September)

During our Annual Gathering last Saturday, Neil Whitmill painted prophetically for us and you can see photos of the three paintings he shared with us on our Facebook page.

While I feel that all three pictures have something to say to us as, it was this painting of a leap of faith that resonated the most with me.

Several things are up in the air for me at the moment. There are some difficulties that we are facing as a family and being in the in-between is not a comfortable place to be. Some of you, either in your personal circumstances or in the lives of the churches you serve, may feel the same. You have leapt out in faith (or perhaps it feels like you were pushed!!) You hope that there is something better ahead but the feeling of being between the launching and the landing is not a pleasant one.

In talking about the painting on Saturday, Neil shared from Deuteronomy 31:8; ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.’

It is wonderful to be reminded that God is with us. We may feel vulnerable in mid-air, but we are never alone! My prayer is that we would learn to look to God more, and that we would know the blessing of his comfort, hope and perspective.

If you want to hear more about a real-life leap of faith, then I would encourage you to attend the day being run by Barnwell Baptist church as they share how God has led them to seize a missional opportunity on a new housing estate. They will be sharing their story in an open day on 20 October.

What is the picture saying to you?

If you have any thoughts, please share them in the comments on our Facebook post about this painting. we would love to hear from you.

Will you pray with us?

The EBA trustees are currently having discussions about the future direction and priorities of the EBA. We will be praying about this next Tuesday (4 October) on Zoom and we hope you will join in https://www.easternbaptist.org.uk/…/rhythm-of-prayer-2022/

Will you leap with us?

As we reach the point of discerning God’s will, may we be people who leap in faith and who keep trusting in God between the launching and the landing.

Are we open to the Possibilities?

When we began to think about our house move, one of the things that Tracey said that she was going to miss was the island in the kitchen (you may have seen it in various EBA videos such as this one). The kitchen in our new manse is considerably smaller …
