Willingham is a village sitting just outside the Fens, around 12 miles northwest of Cambridge. The Baptist Church has a fairly small but active congregation, serving the community with a variety of activities throughout the week.
Family events such as a weekly toddler group, kids club and youth group are all well attended, as are the coffee mornings and monthly men and women’s groups. The church is also at the heart of an effective ecumenical partnership through a joint Messy Church run with the Anglican church each month, and by hosting the Community Luncheon Club run by the Salvation Army.
Creative ministry and outreach events are run to help the church realise its vision of ‘Making Jesus Visible’, with the most popular of these being the annual Light Party and Advent Adventure. The latter involves 24 decorated windows throughout the village depicting something to do with Christmas and invites the whole community to work out what is in each window, before a final window reveal at the church on Christmas Eve, with prizes handed out.
Willingham Baptist Church also runs several events during the year and actively support village events where they can.
The church have recently said goodbye to their minister, Revd Paul Joel, as he takes some time out of ministry, so they are in the very early stages of pastoral vacancy.
• For this time of pastoral vacancy, that we would be in tune with the direction that God is leading us as we move forward.
• For our thriving youth group, particularly how we connect with those in years 7-9 and how we move them on in their spiritual journeys.
