Whepstead Baptist Church is located in the village of Whepstead, four miles south of Bury St Edmunds. The village has no shop or school but a very thriving community spirit. The Church is very much part of the village and support the Community Association at various events throughout the year.
The fellowship is a mix of all ages and is drawn from the surrounding area. They do not have a minister but they are very grateful for those who visit to lead worship. The Church is led by their four deacons who are praying for more people to come alongside and join the work.
New houses near to the church have seen an increase in the young people’s work. 7Teens (for children age 7-12) and Baked Teens (age 12+) run once a fortnight. This is well-attended by children from the village. They give thanks for a young family who have recently moved into the village and have started attending the church.
The fellowship has begun to introduce All-Age Worship Services, the most recent being the Harvest Thanksgiving. They have been encouraged by some young adults who are keen to be involved in helping to organise and take part alongside members of the diaconate. The fellowship thanks God for these people and the gifts they bring. There are plans to hold the next one at Christmas involving the young people who attend on a Friday.
The Social Group and Friendship Group meets once a month with different speakers. Both these groups are a great source of outreach to the community.
• Please pray that the All-Age Worship will encourage young people and their families from a Friday Evening to come along.
• For all the outreach activities and community involvement.
• Wisdom for the deacons as they lead the church
• For the fellowship to be open to God’s leading and guidance for the future.
