Ramsden Bellhouse is an affluent village located between Billericay and Wickford in southern Essex and for 92 years has been home to Ramsden Bellhouse Baptist Church. It is a small church with about 20 members and is led part-time by retired minister Revd Jim Hamilton.
Jim has been at the church for five years and usually leads the Sunday service. There is an older congregation of about thirty who come from an area much wider than the village itself but there are currently no children or teenagers. This is a very loving fellowship with a real concern and care for each other.
The church is very active and has a modern hall which is well-used for a variety of events and meetings throughout the week. These include coffee mornings, Bible study and a monthly breakfast on Saturday mornings. And there are a range of special events that take place through the year with a focus on the local community.
However the church finds it hard to breakthrough to the residents in the village. They have a good relationship with the village Anglican church and work well with them. Jim is a governor of the local CofE primary school and regularly takes assemblies there.
Please pray for:
• A breakthrough in making an impact into lives of people in the village
• Guidance on what to do about the buildings. There is subsidence in the main church building and a potentially large bill to put it right.
