Light of Life Baptist Church is a creative and vibrant community that shares life together as they seek to follow Jesus and grow in faith, hope, and love.
They have a unique monthly rhythm of meeting together. On the first Sunday, there is a time to eat together and a short, contemplative service. The second Sunday is a podcast, reaching a wider audience than just church members, and provides time to meet with non-Christians. The third Sunday is a more traditional, but interactive and multi-voice with lots of cake! The fourth Sunday is for a Sabbath rest, they may walk along the beach, meet with people in their life group or spend time with family and friends – anyone who they may not meet in the church building.
The church is a very creative group that practises contemplative spirituality and is connected to their community; partners are encouraged to volunteer outside the building. They have a regular Lego café, participate in their local village fair and are the place to be for hot chocolate on the 31st of October. They do life together, growing deeper in spirituality.
Their minister, Elizabeth Stoner, encourages trying new things and they are seeing growth, both in deepening relationships with Jesus and numerically.
Looking forward, one challenge is the upkeep of an old building, which, although very special, is limited in space as they grow.
