Weekly Prayer Focus: Gorleston Baptist Church

Week 02

Gorleston Baptist Church is located on the east coast of East Anglia just south of Great Yarmouth. They are a mixed group of local people who believe in offering a good welcome to all, and especially to those in deprived areas. Here, you will find a sense that God is with us.

Rev Mike Flynn, who has been the minister of Gorleston Baptist Church for three years, speaks about their Sunday services being about worship and an important part of their week. Their authentic and engaging worship has been a source of God’s blessing and growth, which has seen new individuals and families join the congregation. Life groups run regularly, which they are seeking to promote further.

As part of the church’s community outreach, Liz Townson and a group of fantastic volunteers run ‘The Well’, which is a twice-weekly drop-in. This group has been running for 20 years, providing, amongst other things, breakfasts, a food bank and, more recently, a food pantry. Here, people come as they are and are met with care.

Gorleston Baptist Church are happy to say that with new children attending the church, they were able to put on a great nativity this year. It was written by someone in the church and rehearsed throughout December, and it was a lot of fun!
