Girton lies about two miles north-west of Cambridge with the church set on a road that runs through the village. Nick Lowe is their minister.
The fellowship aims to reach out by sharing the good news about Jesus on a day-to-day basis. They also have contact with the local primary school, especially with visits to the church at Christmas and Easter. They hold a monthly outreach Bible Study at a local independent living residential home.
2024 was not an easy year for the church as they not only faced all the usual struggles that churches are contending with these days, but also, unfortunately, a significant number left. However, there have been recent encouragements. One that stands out is a young Iranian lady came to the Lord. Also, someone else wants to be baptised in the next couple of months. A Carol service followed by a ‘high tea’ at the residential home went very well. And it was fantastic to see an exceptional number of visitors at the Carols by Candlelight service and on Christmas Day.
A number of elderly people, who used to be regular at GBC, have now reached the point where they find it too difficult to attend church. The fellowship seeks to keep in touch with them and support them wherever they can. But also, they have people on the fringe of church life, who are showing interest.
As the church moves forward, Nick seeks to draw all these different aspects of church life together as he leads the church into 2025.
