Weekly Prayer Focus: Garland Street Baptist Church

Week 49

Garland Street Baptist Church is led by Rev. Gavin Walter and is a relaxed and welcoming church in the centre of Bury St Edmunds. In the last couple of years, they have been blessed with a number of new people joining the fellowship, bringing diversity and further enriching the church.

During the week, there are many different activities bringing people together, including a youth group, table tennis, carpet bowls, book club, walking group (monthly) and several home groups. The newly refurbished kitchen serves the various activities during the week, and the church holds a quarterly fellowship lunch.

On a Sunday, there is a contemporary morning service, with the evening service a blend of traditional organ-led worship, services focused solely on prayer, and a recent addition, the sharing of testimonies in the form of ‘Desert Island Discs’, which has deepened our relationships with one another, as God reveals how he has worked in people’s lives.

Over the last six months, the church has been praying, discerning and listening to God, seeking His vision and will for the church moving into 2025 and beyond. It is an exciting time for the church as it looks forward to continuing to share Jesus’ love and serve the local community.
