Fakenham is a market town in north Norfolk with a Baptist chapel built in 1801.
FBCC had a big vision to build a modern church that was suited to its needs, so with a legacy, bought a plot of land on a business park at the edge of town, sold the old church and broke ground on the project in 2019. The large, new and modern building is well-appointed with a range of facilities and community spaces that will allow the church to reach out in mission with a variety of work and be a blessing to the local community. Constructing a new building on a green-field site has not been without problems and setbacks, but the Lord has blessed the project, overcoming many hurdles along the way and answering specific prayers. The building is now in its final phases and is planned to fully open in 2024. The church is currently seeking an experienced project manager to oversee the building project through its final stages.
The church fellowship currently meets on Sundays at the Fakenham Community Centre with weekday meetings such as the Thursday Market Stall, a Toddler Group (Little Fishes), a cameo group for older people, and home groups. The church is supported by moderator Rev Jonathan Squirrell and has a leadership team of seven. The church website has been upgraded and technology has been helpful in keeping people together.
