Corringham Baptist Church are a growing church that desire to continue building God’s Kingdom where they are in southern Essex.
This busy church has seen recent growth to around 50 people in their Sunday service, and they hope to continue to have to put more chairs out as they continue to grow. They have also been recently blessed with families regularly attending with teenagers and young children, prompting a re-start to Sunday School.
However, Sundays are not their only focus as they have a great youth group, a weekly Bible study, an over-50’s group that caters for some with dementia, and a coffee morning which sees some people from their community coming in to enjoy a hot drink and friendship.
In addition, Corringham Baptist Church regularly holds special events. Each year, they fundraise. This year they raised money for the Foodbank with the support of various groups who rent out their hall. They have special events with guest speakers, quiz and film nights, tabletop sales, and they have just finished running the Alpha Course! This shows that they have an outreach focus, but their beautiful services keep bringing people back on a Sunday morning to worship our Lord Jesus.
Rev John Kennett has been their minister for nearly four years. Married with two sons, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and another great-grandchild on the way! He has a passion for God and for music. He is also passionate about increasing people’s interest in how they worship and study God’s Word. He also believes that prayer is the foundation to everything that the church does both personally and in the church’s corporate life.
The future sees the church continue their current outreach, with a focus on the Sunday School and Youth Group and with prayer. They aim to see even more families find God. They also hope to see the desire for more people becoming a member and to be an important part of this loving and caring church.
