Weekly Prayer Focus: Chase Cross Baptist Church

Week 45

Chase Cross Baptist Church is in Collier Row. It is a church located in a residential area serving its local community however they can. Like many of our churches, they have had a challenging year, yet they continue to look after one another and are faithful in their outreach.

On a Sunday, Chase Cross Baptist Church can be found within their church building, where around 25 people meet, or live on Facebook. They have been streaming their services for many years, since before COVID, and maintain contact with those who are unable to attend physically. Additionally, they have other activities running during the week. A long-established group meet on Thursday afternoon for fellowship, whilst a coffee morning on Monday morning meets in a local pub. This is a time to catch up with one another, and with non-members attending, it is a great example of outreach through friendship. For those who enjoy films, there is a monthly Movie and a Meal event, created at the start of the cost-of-living crisis to serve those in need in their local community.

Chase Cross Baptist Church also has strong links with local organisations within their area. Some of these are London City Mission, the food bank for which they collect food, and St Francis Hospice. Recently they have hosted a market and craft fair for the hospice within the church building.

All these activities are supported by their tight-knit church community and leadership team of 6 deacons. The church is currently in pastoral vacancy and looking to appoint a moderator to assist them. They have a desire to see the next generation in the church and hope that any future minister will assist them with this. However, their current challenge is funding, as a recent survey found issues with their building, requiring significant repairs. Whilst this is ongoing, they are unable to fund the minister they were hoping for.

Please join them in praying:

  • For ongoing building works, costs and practicalities
  • For all in the fellowship as they continue to support one another
  • For strong, fruitful links with their local community
