Letton Hall diversifies to protect core ministry
It will be no surprise to learn that without guests and income, Christian conference and activity centres suffered badly through the pandemic. There was some small Government help and the furlough scheme was certainly essential. However, the impact of extended closure due to Covid-19 presented an enormous challenge. It also presented an opportunity to re-assess and to think differently.
The Trustees at Letton Hall remain very committed to their historic vision of welcoming church family groups, church youth groups and, during the week, school and charity groups. Hosting small prayer, leaders’ and mentoring retreats and running occasional Bible weeks, is also a priority. The hope and prayer is that all who stay at Letton Hall will sense God’s presence and hear His voice.
Looking forward, the need to exercise prudence, implement bold plans and walk by faith, seem together to make a lot of sense in these uncertain times. To find ways to balance ministry and business. To safeguard the future and see Letton Hall flourish.
Much needed additional income can be generated through cautious diversification. This can be used to shore up and even improve core activity and ministry.
Of course, some up-front investment is usually required and at Letton Hall this is represented by the arrival of two impressive Tepees which, if used together, are large enough to seat 120-150! Smaller projects include refurbishing a coffee van and upgrading self-contained accommodation, that can now be found on Airbnb. In time, glamping might even become a thing in the lovely grounds at Letton Hall!
With new activities and events planned sensitively around typical bookings and guests, day conferencing, afternoon teas, occasional weddings, a Christmas food & craft market and even a week of school prom nights are likely to become part of the pattern of life at Letton Hall.
The post-pandemic journey has begun and all at Letton Hall look to God to guide each step.
