Christmas Resources from the Regional Team

By Hayley Beckett on 9th December 2020

As promised the Regional team have recorded a selection of videos for any church to use over the Christmas period.

These can all be found on the EBA YouTube channel

Beth has produced a sermon entitled “The Three Wise Women based on Luke 1:26-45 and Luke 2:36-38. (179) The Three Wise Women…based on Luke 1:26-45 & Luke 2:36-38 – YouTube What did Mary, Elizabeth and Anna know that made them believe?

Graeme has produced an all age Christmas carol service which explores the theme of Jesus being God’s gift to the world. The three short talks can be used separately:

  1. God became human (4 ½ minutes) https://youtu.be/_khcudLCFyY  This talk which uses the metaphor of disempowering through armour being removed, explores the theme of the incarnation and reflects on what Jesus gave up when he became human. 2. Jesus is God’s gift to the world (7 ½ minutes) https://youtu.be/TBrc2iKAxKA  This talk which involves the unwrapping of a present, looks at who Jesus is, why he came and why he is God’s gift to the world. 3. Jesus offers light and hope in this dark world (4 ½ minutes) https://youtu.be/r41PscMZKoc This talk thinks about how bleak the Christmas story is as an introduction to prayer (this is done in a way that is appropriate for children) . Fritz von Uhde’s painting ‘The Road to Bethlehem’ is used as a visual for reflection – in the bleakness of the road to Bethlehem, Jesus is present waiting to be birthed, bringing his light and hope into a dark world. Alternatively you can view all three talks as a part of a whole service through this Youtube playlist which includes some extra videos such as carols. (Approx 35 minutes). https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3JmhPBINqErKdFnYyleZ24TO0R7zDNhQ

There is also a creative reading of Isaiah 9 v1-7 https://youtu.be/dIEZ3Rnrgl8

Jeniya, EBA Moderator has produced a recording particularly for that Sunday between Christmas and New year (179) It’s Time to Reflect: A Sermon for the end of 2020 – YouTube

Graeme has also produced a sermon ideal for starting the New year which looks at Romans 12:1-2 and considers what God is calling us to as his people (179) Romans 12.1-2: Remembering Should Change Us – YouTube

In addition Aaron Griffin, Children and Youth worker from Central Baptist Chelmsford, has written and recorded an evangelistic Christmas poem which he has kindly said any church can use over this period if they would find it helpful. https://t.co/MDiE0r8LKr?amp=1
