Looking at conflict and managaing difficult behaviour in the church

Led by- Rev Joanna Williams – Blackley Baptist Church and the Blackley Centre for Peace and Dialogue

This day will create an opportunity to discuss and consider issues of conflict, and difficult behaviour from individuals, and how to manage and transform these within the life of the church.

We all come with huge experience of transforming conflict and we learn from one another to gain skills and increase awareness. Objectives for today include:

  • An increase in self-awareness of our individual feelings with regard conflict
  • An understanding of what may lie behind difficult behaviour
  • Awareness of some strategies to cope, or indeed, transform situations that are potentially destructive so that life and ministry and mission are sustained
  • An understanding of how anxiety impacts the system of the church

Session One

How we view conflict, our experiences, what are the main concerns for us?

Session Two

Anxiety in the Church; ‘Bad’ behaviour; The Church as a System

Session Three

Transforming the culture of the church with regard conflict

Session Four
